This series, called The Mind Rags, evolved from our desire to counterbalance the loud presence of so many books in one room. We tried original photographs of famous authors, manuscript pages, letters, oil paintings, drawings, nothing – but all to no avail.
The Mind Rags, however, are exactly what we have always wanted. And maybe so do you.
Started in 2012, the series is a work in progress and will comprise one hundred and twenty-six works – 26 lettered from A to Z and 100 numbered from 1 to 100 – at its conclusion.
The series is executed in monochrome, reflecting its subject: black ink on paper, triggering the imaginative colours of and echoing the sound waves in the mind. The paintings present themselves like opened books.
Materials used in the series are canvas and silicone rubber: old and new. Also, this choice allows for both sides to be completely different and still create a unity.
It is the aim of the artist to see the world as in perpetual chaos; with any book giving it a certain order through different ages: surfacing, time and again, caressingly. This is why he has chosen to letter the paintings from A to Z and from 1 to 100.
Two different issues are available:

The Mind Rags I: A to Z
26 works of art lettered A to Z, each referring to a specific author and book, with a quote taken from the book as its title, written in the artist's hand beneath the painting.
Though the canvases could be framed to show both sides, the artist has chosen to hide one in order to simulate a reader's experience of uncharted country upon turning a page.
These 26 works have been custom-framed and come with a separate label affixed to the back on which the work of reference and its letter of the alphabet are printed. The label is signed and dated.

The Mind Rags II: The 20th Century's 1 – 100 Books Written in English
These works are not framed. They come with a signed and numbered vignette and label (the latter can be cut to look like a bookmark), both of which are printed on one side of a folded custom-made sheet.
